My name is Andrew Carawan, and I have 16 years of experience as a classroom teacher. I have taught science, social studies, and special education at Medina Valley High School. I was the VFW teacher of the Year for the district and region in the 2023-24 school year. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I have spent countless hours sponsoring student activities such as UIL Academics, serving on commitees within the district, and serving as the announcer for the Girls Soccer Program. Before I entered education I served in the United States Navy for 6 years aboard a fleet ballistic missile submarine working as a nuclear trained machinist mate. I have been married for 25 years to my wife Mica and we have two sons. My oldest graduated from MVHS in 2022 and my youngest is a freshman at the high school. I am running for school board because I believe my classroom experience gives me a unique perspective that is missing from the current board, where few members have actual experience in education.
